NATIONAL HIVE REGISTER // BRITANA
THE COUNTRY
BENEATH THE COUNTRY.
The surface still carried the names of old cities. Beneath them, a second nation grew through mines, tunnels, foundations and sealed transport systems.
The City of London Hive became the largest underground population centre in Britana. It declared itself a separate jurisdiction and prefecture, preserving the language and machinery of national authority long after central government failed. Its leadership did not consider London one hive among many. It considered the other hives subordinate territories.
Neo Victoria grew beneath Nottingham and became the second largest hive. Construct expanded through abandoned coal pits, mine workings and natural cave systems, joining them with new habitation chambers, transit shafts and industrial infrastructure. London claimed authority. Neo Victoria built enough independence to question it.
